Ha!!! Ask Houdini about closing tanks! I just found my beautiful little corn snake yeah!! and I just installed new velcro fasteners on the cage doors. I wonder how long it will take her to figure out how to open those. So back to the poor soul with the lost snake: they come back, always (well maybe not always but usually) I spent a childhood catching and bringing home wild snakes who always escaped in the house and always turned up again safe and hungry, had a ball python who got out no matter how we secured the door. One time was gone for 3 months and turned up inside the wet-dry vacuum in the garage. Try not to stress too much and figure out how it got out and how to try to prevent further escape.
