If you don't mind going VERY big I would get a TEGU...they are like dogs in a large lizard body...very tame (make sure you get the right breed) VERY smart (you can easily litter train them...and they can hibernate 6 months out of the year saving you time, electricty, and food...while they are up they are eating machines though). They eat raw meat, fruits, veggies, cat food, figs potatoes (almost anything) and they love eggs. and the juvies eat insects.
If you want a good link (and breeder) go to Agama International's website and look under Argentine Tegu (you can also look at the Australian Dragons there too).
The only Tegu I would recomend is the Argentine Black and white and the only breeder would be bert...who is practically God here in my house :)
