:my female Chinese WD's belly has been bigger than normal for the past two weeks. i have checked her belly and cannot feel anything that could be eggs, and she is eating very well still. she has been pooping fine everyday up until yesterday. i went ahead and fed her today, and once again, she ate well. should i go ahead and take her to her vet?
Rick:: Sometimes it is difficult to feel the eggs if the waterdragon has a good layer of fat. A sure sign that your waterdragon is gravid is her behavior. Usually they start digging like crazy looking for the best spot. Another possibility is protien retention due to metabolic bone desease. I 'd take her to the Vet. Even if she is gravid usually they lay within a week of the eggs being noticable. So she may be egg bound as well.
