Pine sap is toxic to reptiles, but if it is sealed it is ok. Pine is a very soft wood though, you would be better off using oak or something sturdy. The pond should be long enough for your guys to get into and submerge, I would say at least 30 inches long for an adult. Mine is currently 30 x 24 x 6
