My filter has been running for about a month now, but I'm not sure it's working quite right. I've noticed that the water really isn't clear. It's clearish, but has a dark tint to it. Also the last time I checked (about 2 weeks ago) there was NO moss formation on the lava rock. And I'm not sure that it's properly getting rid of solid waste, it seems to pile up in a corner (outside the main pond), it COULD be disposing of itself after that though, I'm not sure what's happening down under the plants. The plants are still living so that's a good sign. Should I just let it keep running. I worry that if I exchage some of the water I'll disrupt the natural cycle and it will have to start over. Are there any aquarium chemicals I could add to help it along a little, a bacteria culture or something to jumpstart moss formation (is there such a thing)? I really love not having to clean it though, that's a HUGE plus. I changed about half the water 2 weeks ago, when I moved the pump to a different location. Anyways, other then those few concerns it does seem to be working. I think I'm going to get a fecal done tomarrow, so we'll see what the results are.
