:I have a small submersible filter in my rubbermaid container, it lays on its side and does a pretty good job for a few days. The water is only about 5 inches deep.

I have a ten gallon black mason's mixing tub. In it is a dual filter system. The water is just under six inches deep. One is just a basic air filter and the other is a submersible waterpump/filter. I have a fair share of rocks and things.
