If I'm not mistaken, I believe the males of most Crotalid species reach sexual maturity long before the females do, even in terms of size. I would think a 2 foot atrox could successfully breed with a sexually mature female that very well may need to be closer to 3 feet.

But off hand I am not sure either way...
