In Reply to: Heads Poking Out.....question posted by Melinie on May 13, 2003 at 13:33:35:

:First, Congrats on your new 'pips', IcedGoddess!
:But I have a question for everyone....
:Last year I had two little noses poke out of a couple of eggs, but they tucked themselves back in, and never came back out!
:The slices they made in the shells were large enough for them to get out of, but, after waiting a recommended 48 hours, I opened the slices a bit more and found both of these babies had died.
:One breeder told me that he routinely makes larger slices in the shells once he is sure he has seen a head poke out, and will sometimes actually slice the shell in half.
:What are your thoughts?
:Thanks!
:M!
