eating after pre-lay shed

I was feeding my males today when the females one of which is supposed to be 9 days after her pre-lay shed, and the other one which is 2 days after her pre-lay shed both seemed excited about the mice, so I offered both a mouse and they goobled them up, are the being weird or are they fooling me? Is this normal?
