you can't just say it's one thing or the other. I think there are three or four major influences of snake movement (cause generally its best to not move unless you have to:
1.) too hot too cold (both my corns were on the cold side this morning)
2.) sex (mating)
3.) food (hunting at night or rarely during day)
4.) fleeing stress (noise, etc)
