:I am not quite sure about the orange, but this is what I have experienced myself: I watched some mating attempts on both my females and 1-2 weeks after that they began to get orange colours. After 2-3 weeks they stopped eating and around 1 week after that they were ready to lay the eggs.
:So I think that they get the orange markings when they are gravid.
