I'll have to give filter sand a shot as a bedding with some of my collareds. Is it typically available at pool supply stores? One note on play sand... I have found that the size and coarseness of the granules can really vary from batch to batch, regardless of which supply warehouse I buy it from. I agree that rounder, smoother grains are undoubtedly easier for lizards to pass through their digestive tracts.
