Great picture. I have caught a few checkered whiptails in Santa Barbara, CA. I was wondering if you knew what they looked like when they are young. There are two main lizards here, the western fence lizard (blue belly) and one that I think may be a young checkered whiptail. It looks similar to the bluebelly but has orange markings underneath and is a tan color rather than grey/black. Any idea if this is a young whiptail?

Peter
