You guys got to know how to catch these, I live close to Riverside and have been able to catch these anytime I've wanted. Here's the scoop, these animals unbeknowns to most herpers congrgate in south facing craigs or cracks of granite outcroppings during the winter usually during Christmas break me and my son used to noose them. Some times we found cracks that had somewhere between 10 and 25 lizards. The babies are usually closes to the outside, then the males and the females are usually in the back of the crack. This is just an observation on my part and not scientific but it seems to be that way the majority of the time. You can noose a couple nice males and if you can get to a female you got it. It's really not that hard. I am 100 percent sure that a basket O' Crickets would probably work as a trap. These guys like big food like large grssshoppers and moths. They make great pets, I have hatched the eggs in about 50 days on the top of my water heater. THey also cross breed with Crevice spineys. I had a hibryd batch of red babies that came from a red Crevice spiney they told me came from Mexico, the female crevice and male orccutti mated. They were perfect, the male babies had exceptionally red heads. My son eventully grew out of reptiles and we took them out to riverside and let them go and haven't had any for a few years, but I do hike out there and if your out at El Sobrante road and Caljco Rd. in Riverside there are alot of out crops, also Gavilon hills. There are two color phases. A dirty brown phase with pronounce bands and another phase that is very colorfull with blue spots on each scale. These are more common in the higher elevations it seems to me.
