I've used the standard ReptiSun 5.0 plus a regular house light bulb or halogen spotlight for basking for years on different species. The only eye problems I've had were really secondary symptoms of other obvious health problems, either dehydration or nutritional deficiencies. I did have a very old cham with a recurring eye problem that never progressed. The vet could see increased vascularization in the eye but no underlying cause. I would NEVER use a blacklight on captive herps. Any creature's eye can get irritated by something. Occasional rubbing to get a piece of shed or bit of leaf off is normal, but if a cham rubs a lot over several days I start looking for other signs of a problem and I'm off to the vet for his 'scope.
