: Hi,
: There are white dots on my Hibiscus. When I squished some they seemed to be powderish. Is this mold or bacteria growths? What can I do? I was thinking about washing it of and scrubbing the little things off with a tooth brush. Thanks
Jason: The white dots are most likely mealybugs or scale. If you don't have many on the plant, try wiping them off with rubbing alcahol or a soapy(Ivory is mineral and additive free) solution. Rinse it off before letting your chameleon back on it tho. If that doesn't work, try using Safer brand insecticide soap. (I haven't tried it yet, but a recent post talked about it)
Good Luck, I have a Ficus tree with the same thing. They are coming back after wiping, so I am just not letting my chameleon on it until I find a solution.
