Looks like you already found it but Suncoast Herp Society was the one I was going to recommend. They are part of the League of Florida Herpetological Societies.
Here's the info I have on them in case it differs from yours:

They meet the third Wednesday of the month at 7pm at Moccasin Lake Nature Park Trail in Clearwater. The contact phone # is (727) 942-6700.
