I bought myself two dimmer switches today. Both say single pole, and i have extension cords with the female end cut off. Now, the dimmers have 4 wires on the back part. two on top ( one is red, one is green). Two on bottom (one is red, one is black). Every diagram on the net ive seen shows you hooking up only TWO wires from the back of the dimmer to the one strand of the extension cord. WHICH two wires am i supposed to hook up? Some more info on the dimmer, its a push on/off type with a dial to turn. Completely counterclockwise is off. I bought them from ace hardware. Someone PLEASE help. Ill be monitoring responses so if you have questions please post and ill answer ASAP.
