I second what Chris said about gap. With ball pythons, you don't need tight tolerances because ball python heads are big. My rack had 3/16" gap and it could have been 1/4" with no worries. With clearance like that you avoid problems with stuck boxes due to sagging shelves or boxes that are slightly warped. Also, you can sometimes fit a different style box in there without needing to build another rack.
