I have both brands. My Helix Super System controls temps and lights so it offers more functions. I use these systems for my display cages. My Big Apple controls temps only and I use them on my other enclosures. Both brands are good quality and work equally well at their intended functions. Big Apple has good customer service, if I have questions they always answer them promptly. Helix also has good customer service. I have called them numerous times with questions or looking for troubleshooting advice and they always spent a lot of time with me. I had trouble with a old unit and sent it back to them and they repaired it basically for free (I had to pay for shipping back to me)Can't beat that.
