Well, here are the step-by-step instructions for modifying a #2223 rubbermaid to have sliding plexiglass doors. Let me know if any of the instructions are confusing.
MODIFYING RUBBERMAID STORAGE BOX
No. 2223 - 11 US gal.
1. Cutting opening
•Cut an opening on the side 16 ˝" x 6 ˝" (this will allow a lip to fasten the wood frame) Bottom of opening to be app. 1" from bottom of box
•Drill holes at each corner of opening to start cuts
•Use jigsaw with fine tooth blade to cut opening
2. Making wood frame sides
•2 1" x 3/8" x 7 ˝" wood pieces
•Make a paper template of the box at the vertical cutout and trace on to wood pieces
•Cut and shape wood to fit the box
•Pre-drill small holes and fasten sides to box with 4 ˝ #6 wood screws on each piece
3. Making wood frame bottom
•1" x 16 ˝" x 5/8" wood piece
•Cut groove on 1" side 1/4" deep and wide enough to accommodate 2 thicknesses of 1/8" glass
•Fasten to bottom of opening with 6 screws (same as for sides).
•Fasten bottom corners of the frame together with 3/4" #6 screws.
•Pre-drill to avoid splitting. Remove this piece to insert sliding panels. ( It is easier to do it this way than to install the sliding panels when first fastening this piece)
4. Door catches are made with plastic pieces notched and drilled as shown in photos to hook onto the pulls

P.S. I'd be willing to write a more complete step-by-step, with pictures for each step, if enough people are interested.
