I've been there, only once. It was in 2001 I think. I have to admit, I didn't see anything particularly bad while I was there. The only thing I can recall is that the gentleman who did the "snake show" didn't actually seem to know very much about snakes (as evidenced not only by what he was telling the audience about snakes, but also by the way he was handling them).

Other than that, I didn't witness anything as terrible as your account of the place. I'm very sorry to hear it, and just as sorry that I'm not at all surprised.
