bag "Hardwood Mulch" and right next to it were other bags that had "Aspen" written on them. It may be true that Aspen is a type of hardwood but the kind of "Hardwood Mulch" I bought didn't even smell or look like the aspen mulch in the other bags.

:Perhaps you are confusing aspen with pine or cedar? Aspen is a hardwood, and is probably the top 'naturalistic' bedding for most snakes.
