:When feeding any kind of snakes Youalways have to be concerned with the supply of feeders that you may have. As the other poster pointed out, sometimes snakes will develope a liking for certain foods. Then if you run out of that food animal they refuse to eat something else. Variety may be the sice of life for humans, but with snakes a steady diet of rodents that are raised on a blanced diet is the best way to go.

:As an example I have a 6' adult 5 year bull that was raised by someone else, it refuses to eat rats and has at times beeen so dead set in its determination not to eat anything other than mice that it has lost upwards of 30% of its body weight. A real pain and expensive too as he eats about 10 mice at a setting. The previous owner fed him mice as a hatchling and mice till he was 4 years old when I got him. The Previous owner raised his own mice and did not like rats so now I have his problem. Oh well he is beautiful and produces good babies.

:Additionally, realize tat the nutrituional value in a chick is way lower thanin a rodent, you can see this just by watching the amount of time it takes to digest a meal of chicks as versus rodents.

:My advice on pits is start them on mice and then switch them to rats as soon as you can.

:Good Luck,
