Hello,
I have a Black Pine, about 13months old, got from John Cherry. Some of the scales or should I say scale coverings from just below his head down about 6-8inches are sloughing off. It is not the scale itself but the shining covering, they are visibly sloughing off. This is happening only on this area of the snake.
He is around 36 inches long, his enclosure is a 4 long cage made by Doug Barr at herpcages.com, it has aspen for substrate, readily available water, a hide on both the warm and cool side. Temps are 77-78 on the warm and 70-72 on the cool.
His temperment is mellow as is the norm for this guy except an increase in cage cruising over the past week. He ate fine and is scenting as per the norm. He reacts to movements and the like as he should.
Any thoughts or ideas??? The scale coverings? come off readily and easily when he is handled.
Also we are in a warming trend here, have gone from -20f to 40's in the past week....
Please help if ya can...
Thank You,
Charles
