Maybe they had another true redtail they wanted to breed. If not, I wouldn't get rid of it just because it was a BCI!
Is it a female? They usually get bigger than the males, and I think 10 feet isn't that unusual for a female Columbian. I wonder if maybe that snake isn't a cross or something though.
