in fact, 31 years this summer, and I think Ball Pythons make a lousy choice for a first snake. I have kept WC and CB ball pythons many times, and I don't think they are a good beginner snake.

Nor do I think Sand Boas or Western Hogs are good starter snakes, even though I keep and breed both species.

The problem with Ball Pythons and other species is that they can be finicky. If you are an experienced keeper, you know this and deal with it rationally. I hate reading about newbies who keep these more unpredictable species and take then to vet whenever they haven't eaten in 3 weeks.

As for your overall point, reader beware....lots of poor advice gets passed on here (and will continue to be passed on).
