I would say try to find an Irian Jaya carpet python as opposed to a jungle carpet. IJ's are typically much less snappy as juveniles and don't get quite as large. Some say they are more expensive, but I got a nice IJ at a show for $65. Eats like a pig too! As other people have mentioned, the Children's python and spotted aren't bad either.
