I have never used the cobra heaters, but i do use the exo-terra UTH's and mine are actually laying on a wood stand underneath the tank. I have real thin strips of rubber under the tank just to keep the weight of the tank off the heater. The uth has adhesive on one side, but chose not to stick it just in case I decide to move things around. The uth also only reaches 100 degrees so no harm to snakes or wood.
