What activity level do you want in a snake? Those two you were considering have very different activity levels. The cal-king is pretty darn active, while the python has much more of a laid back attitude. The cal-king has nice bright coloration (as much as you can get in black/white, anyway) and the python is going to end up with muted shades of brown/gray. The cal-king is much skinnier for its length than the python. These are questions that you may want to consider.
