Instead of suggesting a breeder, I will ask if you live near any of the cities that regularly host reptile shows. Check out the "events" at the top of the kingsnake page. If you are fortunate enough to be within striking distance of one, you will be able to find a decent selection and save on shipping costs. I personally like being able to look at and handle a snake before buying, and would rather avoid shipping. But I am lucky to live near Columbus, Ohio, which has a show each month.
Good luck with whatever you choose. Sounds like you are doing your best to educate yourself before you buy. Let us know what you decide. Duffy
:Hi folks,
:I realize this is a pretty frequently asked question, but I'll narrow mine down a bit. I'm a soon to be beginner, and I want to involve my 8 year old daughter in this venture, (she had expressed interest in snakes) and I'm trying to decide what would be a better snake to start out with: a milksnake (I like the Hondurans) or a kingsnake. I've read quite a few of the postings and suggestions to beginners. I was wondering what would be a more moderate sized, manageable snake between the two that my daughter and I could handle.
:Also: a related question> can anyone recommend a breeder? I've looked at quite a few of the web pages, For Goodness Snakes and Albino Tricolors in particular. Can anyone give a recommendation as to a reputable, reliabe dealer of kings/milks?
:Thanks for patience and advice in advance.
