WEll my turtle is over 15years,the girl that had her before had her for 5 years and the people before her for 10yrs. So i'm pretty sure that she isn't going to get bigger. When i got her her beak and nails were VERY overgrown. Her beak is now almost normal so she is having a better time eating. I also add vitamin powder to make sure that she is getting all the stuff she needs even if she only eats a bit.Since i have gotten her her skin is now orange(it was see through when i got her) and her nails are almost back to normal. She had some problems with her toes because her nails were so long they bent backwards. I just have to now work on getting her shell back to normal. Is there anythign i can do to get her shell not as flaky,it kind of looks like dry rotten wood between her scutes(sp?).Its not mushy though.

Thanks for all your help

:My three-toed male has a veracious appetite and would eat most live food beyond his capacity to hold it in. If it squirms, he bites! With fruits and vegetables, he is a bit more reluctant if stuffed. Generally, it is up to me not to feed him too much. I estimate that he is about 15-years-old or slightly younger.

:Every turtle is different, however, and it is not necessarily bad that yours does not eat so much. On the other hand, most healthy box turtles probably eat more than 1 or 2 times a week.

:If your turtle is old enough, an improvement in size and general health may be hard to attain. Like in most animals, abuse and neglect during the crucial years of development may cause irreversable damage. There are success stories, however, so you should make it your goal to get your turtle's diet and activity level to their max level. Unless your turtle is still developing, the size is probably fairly set. Focus instead on the general signs of well-being.
