It's not even a subspecific intergrade,much less a "hybrid",however,I do think that the Hog Island forms of B.c.i. are distinct enough to warrent subspecific separation from the various mainland forms,if anyone ever picked up the taxonomic ball,and,ran with it...I guess these could be accurately described as a "locality intergrade",but,that's about it. I'm not knocking them,I think they're gorgeous,it's just not something I'd be interested in doing...but,it's certainly not a "hybrid" to my way of thinking? just my 2 cents.
