: my friend wants to buy her boy a chameleon because this is the one he likes...can anyone let me know if this is a good choice? if not what would you recommend? thanks..:)

a cham is definetly not a good choice, I'm sure it won't live long. even experienced people have a lot of problems with their chameleon.

a much better choice would be:- a leopard gekko ( Eublepharis macularis) they are pretty easy and you can hold them, they breed easily and they are beautiful and have lots of colors.
-a bearded dragon ( Pogona vitticeps) these guys get bigger but they are also easy and very nice.

but for a 10 year old I would get a leo, nothing else. (but thats my opinion)

do some reading on this forum, I bet you will find lots of info.
And do some reading on the net also because lizards are much more difficult than a rabbit or hampster.
