Beardeds require a lot of space to run around - keep in mind that they are terrestrial and spend most of their time on the ground.
With that in mind, you need a long enclosure (minimum 4ft long - ideally it should be longer), not necessarily a high one.
Angel (12mths old - 22inches long) is constantly roaming around her enclosure, from one end to another - lately she is spending a lot of time in her hiding box, built under the enclosure with a ramp to it.
FYI, her enclosure is 6ft long x 2.5ft deep x 18inches high. Its built out of melamine, with sliding glass doors on the entire front, and a partial wire mesh roof where the UV light and heaters rest. This enclosure is extremely easy to clean and heat (aquariums are a pain to clean properly.)
Hope this helps! 8)
