Since you say he just shed, my first guess would be he rubbed it while shedding and its a discoloration of damage from that. Iguana's and beardies that run on wire cages, furnishing and each other can get areas like this if they rubbed hard enough to break skin/scales.

If it should continue or seem to grow, or more show up around his mouth, take him to a vet and have him looked at as there are some fungus that start out dark in color around the mouth
