If you are anything like me you probably baby your snakes and fuss over them like children. As such, if even the slightest thing is wrong with them it becomes a disaster. Well this morning I woke up and decided to handle my only ball python. I haven't done this in a while. I noticed a rough patch of scales. None of the scales were out of place they just appear a bit rough. They look like there is some kind of adhesive on them. One of my adhesive thermometers had falled off of the cage and was laying on the floor but I am not sure if that is what this is from. The cage is immaculately clean as always and the substrate is paper towels - hence the fuzzy white debris clinging to his skin.I am hesitant to suspect scale rot because his cage has never been dirty. I will post a pic. Any ideas? I think I will start him on a preventative dose of amikacin today regardless.
