This whole topic reminds me of an experience I had this spring. I received four hatchling imports from the same source. So, I set up a large rubbermaid (about twenty gallon size) with an undertank heat source, mulch, and a hide, and decided to leave the four together for quaranteen. They pretty much stuck to the hide with a little exploring.
A few days later I put in a rather large and gnarly piece of driftwood, which had limbs they could hide under, climb on and through, etc. For the next 48 hours, all of them explored the wood continually. They were not hiding under it, they were definately checking out every angle, nook, and cranny. Anytime I opened the enclosure or looked in, all four of them were on it. They were universally drawn to their new piece of furniture. After a few days, they still climbed on it some but not as much as initially. Interesting!
