Will,
Here is my simple perspective and opinion on all this:
Simply put, it's an investment. There is NO guarantee on ANY investement (unless FDIC insured, and that's not even a true guarantee in this world today). If you spent $25K and Kevin has 45 Spiders sitting in the wings for distribution and he sells them for $4000 each this season, well those are the breaks. You better get that animal breeding soon and that's the bottom line. Don't complain about the price, do something with the project to make it work for you. In the end, my opinion on ANY animal I have purchased to date is the following: If I cannot afford to LOSE this animal and the money "invested" in it, then I should not have spent the money in the first place. Simply stated: I buy animals AND if they were to die tomorrow I would not be financially impacted in a MAJOR way to my life. The end.
Matt
p.s. - I'm not trying to say you need to adopt my idea about animal investment, but price drops are life. Just breed the animal to something (Pastel male would be a good start) and move on. Hey, if Pete Kahl wanted to, he could gut the Piebald market, and you know what? It's his RIGHT! It's capitalism, that's all.
p.s.s. - Best of luck with the snake!
