In Reply to: Provent a Mite killed em all for me in one try.I couldn't be more satisfied posted by Ryan on February 22, 2002 at 14:26:17:
:Most people never get 10-15 snakes at once w/heavy infestations, sometimes I do,and under those circumstances,it has not done much for me.I don't think it was designed to deal w/this kind of infestation,it would have to be industrial strength.I do herp rescue, and they usually aren't in good shape by the time they get to me,many are heavily infested w/ mites.I went to no pest strips 3 weeks ago,and they're all but gone.I'm going to try the BK to finish them off. : :something on a forum.I don't believe it's illegal.I think maybe you were talking to a maker or distributor of pro-vent a mite.I've been through two cans of that stuff(P-A-M),and the infestation was getting worse.Mites seem to swim around in the stuff, but don't die. Some say it's to kill eggs, but I sprayed every cage every week when I clean them, and sprayed the entire room, walls and all.A week later, another outbreak.I see alot of people saying how great it is,but I don't think they deal w/the infestations I have to.I do herp rescue, and see some bad things.I rate it right up there with Bio-Mite from T-Rex,remember that crap?I'm using pest strips and soaking now,and I've beaten them back to where I haven't seen one in a couple of weeks.I'm going to order BK,and finish them for good.As for it being unsafe, remember,it was used on humans for years,w/no ill effects. In what forum were you told you couldn't discuss this issue, and by whom?Remember, some of these businesses have friends out here.Take everything w/a grain of salt......................./ Lately, there have been a few suggestions for using this product and quite a few new sources to purchase it. I have read the article at VPI and must admit, it sounds tempting. I tried to discuss this on another forum and was told, in short, it's (BK) illegal (no current EPA approval), unsafe, does not work and could no longer be discussed on the forum. For anyone interested, I would like to know the following:
: : : 1) Does it have a MSDS? And where?
: : : 2) Is it being sold legally?
: : : 3) Has it been tested with reptiles like Provent-o-Mite?
: : : 4) What testing was performed? BK? Provent-o-Mite?
: : : 5) Any other useful information.
