BBC (London, UK) 05 November 99 Hungry PNG crocodiles head for Australia
People in northern Australia have been warned to be wary of an influx of saltwater crocodiles from Papua New Guinea.
Officials in Cape York in North Queensland say the drought in Papua New Guinea has forced many saltwater crocodiles to search for new breeding grounds.
They say the crocodiles are hungry after their swim across the Torres Strait, and will be dangerous as they roam the coastline.
