: I need info and pics of Japalura splendida. I believe I have one of these that was incorrectly labeled as a Calote. I have not been able to find any pics to verify that this is what I have, though someone sent me to some sites that have other Japalura species that look similar. I need info!! It has been eating insects, but I need to know what else to offer, etc. Thanks...
hi there,
i'm not sure if you've managed to find out the info you need yet but i hope this will help
yes they are called "neon agamas" and you can't really find much info out about them atall. there is a book you can buy called 'agamid lizards'which is written by Ulrich Manthey and Norbert Schuster but then again this does'nt tell you that much, it's the best and only book on the market though.
Try to get your temperture to about 35 they prefer the heat and this makes them more lively.
i would recommend that you feed them black crickets as these are better for them than the brown also feed your crickets with a vitamin supplement 24 hours before you feed them to your agamas.Reptasol is excellent for their water too.
spray them with luke warm water about four times a week this encourages them to bask
I hope this helps abit, anything else you need to know just get in touch ok
bye
