I think they are only in a few zoos here, if any. They have incredibly specific needs. Try looking for tuatara sites online. Try contacting New Zealand about it. Many months back, perhaps even a year ago, there was an article written on them, which may give you clues to the answers you are looking for.

I don't know for sure, but the impression I have gotten about tuataras is that comparably, you have a better chance of acquiring a breeding pair of Komodo dragons or Orinoco crocs, unless you happen to be wealthy and of high scientific status. Best of luck and let us know what happens.
