:My fruit fly cultures get really soupy and kind of gross. They produce a lot of flys, but if I turn the culture upside down to dump them out the media comes out too. Any suggestions.

Practice adding more medium to your mixture... or when you are making it add only little bits of water til the mixture looks like mashed potatoes (ie can't se flakes as well as even color for those using the stuff that turns blue) and you can still turn the medium over and not have it fall out (thats how I do it).

If its too wet in general, try using a more ventilated lid for a couple days.
