Big mistake on your Cousins part. Rough Greens are one of the hardest snakes to care for in the world! I attempted breedings, and out of 3, only 1 clutch was born. Feeding wise, it is hard to get them to eat. I fed mine crickets and DO NOT dust the crickets. They will not eat them. I sometimes fed pinky mice to them, but they can't be frozen. And they also love feeder guppies in a small bowl. They need a cage higher than wider. An inverted 10 gallon would be ok if you could make a wooden top with airholes in it. THe substrate should be newspaper or orchid bark. Carefresh is also ok but crickets will tend to hide. Give them many braches to climb. Make it like a branch jungle. All tangled and innertwined. Also they must have a medium size swimming dish. a 60 WATT lightbulb in a lamp by the cage will suffis for heat and UV is optional. They are wonderful snakes though but are TERRIBLY hard to care for. They are like the Sea Horses of the serpents because Sea Horses are THE hardest to care of the aquatical family. I hope the snake does good because Rough Greens are one of my favorites of the colubrid family!
