First of all, post on the correct forum. This is the Africa forum. Post your question on the kingsnake forum.

Nigrita do come from desert environments, but I think it is a bad idea to keep any snake on sand. I have kept a lot of sand boas on sand over the last 10+ years and have had several losses due to sand impaction. Nigrita will live on anything. Try Aspen shavings.
