Where in the Sahara were these croc? Chad? Mauritania?

Does anyone know WHERE specifically in the Sahara these crocs were found? I know that there's a population in northern Chad, but I also recall reading something recently about scientists finding a Nile population in Mauritania. Any clues out there? Any contact info for these folks?
