Chris,
Look up the Helsinki Declaration. This (at least to some extent) deals with treatment of animals in research. Also, I just found the link to ASIH/HL/SSAR Guidelines for Use of Live Amphibians and Reptiles. It is at the bottom of the post.
Hope this helps,
Philip.
apparently misplaced my document titled "Guidelines for Use of Live Amphibians and Reptiles in Field Research" as it appears that the IACUC review committee is requiring a detailed listing of captive care requirements for herps prior to them approving my lab-based research. Also, does anybody know of any additional general documents that outline rules/regulations for keeping herps used in noninvasive (e.g. behavioral) types of ex-situ research (i.e. I need to outline that my captive husbandry practices comply with any known captive care requirements)? Thanks in advance for your help.
