Being 15 years old and without a steady income, I read all about reptiles instead of observing them in the field. first, I had a garter snake, then a bull snake, then I was breeding Ball Pythons instead of learning to drive. I got into it at the age of around 6. My main drawing to herps was at the library and not in the field (Nothing in Michigan), It also helps to have supportive parents. With their help, I will be able to breed my Het. Ball python (My one and only Christmas gift). Parents who support their kids' hobbies probably bolster their future careers as scientists.
