I went all the way through vet school with absolutely no interest in reptiles. Then, shortly after I graduated, a russian desert totoise just "appeared" at the clinic where I work. Now I am a truly devoted herp fan. Perhaps direct contact/exposure w/ herps is the trick for opening up a whole new world to young people.I wish I had found out sooner that there are many more wonderful pets out there in addition to cats and dogs.
